    In 2003, The United States Small Business Administration finally got the idea that small businesses make up a large and vital percentage of the American economy. After much lobbying by the US Chamber of Commerce and other national business organizations, the Congress passed a funding bill that included funds for a pilot program for what was termed “The Small Office/Home Office Express Loan Program". The pilot program lasted 6 months and was such a success that Congress provided funding for 5 more years and opened the program to SBA offices and participating banks throughout the country.

    The program is basically an SBA insured loan through a participating bank at very low interest rates and with very little required from the person/business asking for the loan.

    The paperwork to apply for the loan is extremely easy to fill out…you should be able to do it in an hour or less.

    There are a few requirements of this loan that must be met.

1. You must have a true business. A sole proprietorship, a partnership, an L.L.C. or a corporation.
2. You must be able to answer “NO” to all of the 6 questions on the Borrower Information Form
3. If you were born outside the US, you must submit Proof of Citizenship
4. If you are not a US citizen you must indicate the type of visa or alien registration, complete an INS Authorization form and submit a photocopy of both sides of your green card.
5. If you are a veteran, you must supply Proof Of Service with the application.


    There is a $475.00 loan origination fee payable with the application. The check for this fee must be on your business check. If you don’t have a business checking account, get one and a letter from the bank that you have a business checking account, the account number and the banks address as well as a signature from a bank officer.

    This check WILL NOT be cashed until you are approved and funded. If you are not approved, it will be voided and you owe them nothing.

    The major purpose of this origination is to decrease your interest rate on your loan and to keep the banks from adding on a bunch of loan closing fees. The banks had to agree to this fee before they could participate in this loan program.

    This loan program is ideal for first time businesses that need startup cash or for small businesses that are expanding early on in their developments.
